School Uniform – September 2020

I hope you found Mrs Parkes’ video regarding our return to school helpful. Following a query today, we would like to confirm all children will be returning to school wearing their uniform.

School is now stocked with school uniform and has currently got all sizes in stock.

We are currently taking telephone orders, payment by cash only on day of collection, please try to bring the correct amount of money.

The main school office will be open for collections w/c 24th August, an allocated time will be given to you by the admin team, when you place your order.

Unfortunately children will not be able to try on, on the day of collection. It would be most helpful if the correct money is paid as we have very little change in school.

Many thanks, we look forward to hearing from you soon!!

International Nurses’ Day

International Nurses’ Day is celebrated around the world each year on 12th May, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth (this year also marks the 200th anniversary of her birth).

Did you know that the West Midlands had their very own version of Florence Nightingale?  She was known as Sister Dora and was renowned for the amazing impact she made during the 1800s as well as on modern nursing practices.

A special message to our lovely Year 6 children

Today would be the first day of your SATs week.  I know how hard you all worked for these and how disappointed you will feel not to be able to do them this week.  This is a message from me and all your Year 6 teachers to say how very proud of you we are, despite you not being able to sit your SATs.  During your time in Year 6, we have watched you grow and flourish into capable young people and have seen the wonderful progress you have made in all aspects of your primary education.

We are thinking about you lots and I just wanted to reassure you…I have a plan for the Leavers Celebrations in school,  should we not be able to come back into school before you leave us for high school.  I promise you, we will be celebrating the end of your primary school days here at Wren’s Nest at some point, once it is safe to do so.

Take care of yourselves – keep checking out the website and stay safe!

We can’t wait to see you.

Love from Mrs Parkes and All of the Year 6 Teachers xx

Perhaps you’d like to try this very special SATs paper!

Hi Year 6,

A message from Mrs. Parkes following the Prime Minister’s statement on Sunday 10th May

Dear Parents/Carers,

I’m sure after the Prime Minister’s statement tonight, there are lots of questions you have.  We have lots of questions that need clarification too.

At the moment, for us in school, there is no change to the guidance. We will provide care for those parents whose work is critical to the COVID-19 response and only those that cannot be safely cared for at home. The message is still that it is safer to stay at home.

We have not received any information to support us with this new plan to start the phased reopening of some year groups.  We expect we will receive further information from the DFE shortly, hopefully with some clarification.

We will need clear guidance to plan how it is possible to social distance in schools and keep our children, teachers and families safe; how we might start to phase groups of children returning and what this looks like.  Please be assured there is no way we will reopen until we are 100% prepared.

As always, we will keep you informed but for now, please try not to worry.  Our plan for now is to continue to provide activities for learning at home, keep in contact with you, our families, and continue to support each other in these very difficult and uncertain times.  Best wishes, Mrs. Parkes
