Hi it’s Mrs Smith, Wren’s Nest’s Safeguarding Lead, I just thought I would touch base with you all.
Children and young people are online more than ever before. In fact, 7-16-year-olds who use the internet say that they spend almost four hours a day online (Childwise, 2021). Plus, half of ten-year olds now own their own smartphone (Ofcom, 2019)
It is important to have regular conversations about staying safe online and to encourage children to speak to you if they come across something worrying online.
Talk to your child about the importance of creating a safe online environment, including keeping any log-in details and passwords safe.
These resources will support you to talk to your child about a range of online safety issues.
I hope you find them useful
Mrs Smith
Ensuring that children are safe on the Internet at all times, not only at school, is a priority for us at Wren’s Nest.
We talk to the children regularly about staying safe on the internet through Computing lessons, PSHE lessons and assemblies – including our Internet Safety Day assemblies in February each year.
