The children at Wren’s Nest enjoy representing their school in numerous sporting events. They work hard to achieve their best and thoroughly enjoy taking part as well as contributing towards our Platinum Sports Award.

Our Sports Leaders

Cross Country

The Wren’s Nest Cross Country team delivered an outstanding performance at the recent competition held at Summerhill High School. Since November, the team has shown remarkable commitment, putting in hours of dedicated training in all conditions—and their hard work truly paid off.

Every runner gave their absolute best, showing determination, resilience, and fantastic team spirit throughout. The progress made over months of training was clear to see, and all the children should feel incredibly proud of their efforts.

A special mention goes to Tom, who finished in an impressive 57th place and was the first boy from the team to cross the line. Molly also delivered a superb performance, finishing in 10th place overall—an excellent achievement.

A particularly historic highlight of the day was the girls’ team result. For the first time in at least 20 years, the girls team secured an incredible 2nd place overall—an achievement that reflects their hard work, dedication, and teamwork.

Both Mrs Abbiss and Mrs Share were delighted to support the team and were extremely pleased to witness such strong performances from all the runners.

Well done to everyone involved—this is a result to remember!

Girls Football

The girls did amazingly, first game, had a tough match against milking bank and narrowly lost 1-0 to a late goal. We fought back with a solid 2-1 win against St Joseph’s and then the highlight was a stunning 5-0 win over Queen Vic to finish. Molly and Lola scored 3 goals each across the 3 matches and Rose chipped in with an absolute rocket in the top bins in the final game! Honourable mention to Darcie P for going in goal in the last game and keeping us in it in the early stages with some fantastic saves. All of the girls did fantastic, super proud of them and 2 wins out of 3 has put us in a great position to push towards making the finals. We play the rest of our games in 2 weeks time. Well done, everyone!

Boccia

Yesterday 10 children from Shooting Stars represented Wren’s Nest at a Boccia competition. They demonstrated fantastic teamwork, determination and sportsmanship throughout the event. Kobi, the team captain, did a brilliant job at leading and supporting his team. They cheered each other on through all rounds up to the final, where they achieved second place!

Miss Bridge and the rest of Wren’s Nest are incredibly proud of you, not only for coming second, but also for how polite and supportive you were towards children from other schools at the event. Well done Shooting Stars!  ⭐️
