We are honoured to have been awarded not only the Inclusion Quality Mark, but also to have achieved the Centre of Excellence status.
The IQM website explains, “The Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) exists to help schools create learning environments where every pupil feels valued, supported and able to thrive.
The Inclusive School Award recognises schools that demonstrate a clear commitment to inclusion at every level.
It celebrates settings where policies, teaching strategies, and school culture ensure that every pupil, whatever their background, needs, or abilities, can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.”
“The Centre of Excellence Award recognises schools that have achieved the Inclusive School Award and continue to demonstrate exemplary practice in inclusion.
These schools go beyond their own setting to influence and inspire others, sharing best practice in inclusive teaching strategies, mentoring colleagues, and engaging in national networks.
The award celebrates schools that see inclusion as a living, evolving process, embedding it in every aspect of teaching, leadership, and community engagement.”
Wren’s Nest is proud to be a Communication Friendly setting as accredited by the Early Years Professional Development Programme. All staff are trained in using Makaton through school and children from Time for Twos to Year 6 sign in their day-to-day life in school. On this page you will find some examples of the impact Makaton has on the Wren’s Nest community.
